50 marginal constituencies
1 general election
Swansea West

For the final results in each of 50for15's constituencies, see this post.

What? A Labour-Liberal Democrat marginal in 2010.

Where? South Wales. An hour’s drive from Cardiff. Includes Swansea University and Swansea’s redeveloped docks.

Why? The Liberal Democrats increased their vote share in the constituency by 4.3% in 2010, thanks to the students from Swansea University, which is located in the constituency. How will this vote hold up in 2015 after the rise in tuition fees? And if it does collapse, who will be the beneficiary?

With 331 seats under their belt, they have a majority of five, if you take the view that 326 seats constitutes a majority (650 divided by 2, plus 1), or a majority of ten when you take into...

TUSC – the largest political party that you’ve never heard of

Is it ‘T’ ‘U’ ‘S’ ‘C’ or ‘Tusc’, I ask the small group of TUSC campaigners by a street-market in Swansea. “It’s ‘Tusc’,” says an activist. “But we don’t really mind, as long as people are talking about us.” Perhaps more people should be talking about TUSC, or the Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition to...
